Batik and block printing
Traditional art can enable the tribal women to earn their livelihoods, and this has been amply
proven at Barli Institute wherein the tribal women are given hands-on training in development and
promotion of indigenous art and traditional designs through block printing and batik printing.
Most of these designs were inspired through capturing the traditional designs on the tribal
households, houses, and tatoo marks, which were captured on camera and made into wooden
block designs.
Learning these skills, the trainee-women are able to start their own micro-enterprises in their
tribal areas, or incorporate these designs in their embroidery and tailoring works, thus helping to
spread the tribal culture and traditional arts
